Ask: What does the title and cover picture tell you about Ana? BUILD BACKGROUND Ask children to discuss what it means to be shy. Have them share any situations in which they felt shy. Ask: Did your shyness make the situation more difficult? What did you do about it? PREVIEW/TAKE A PICTURE WALK Have children look at the pictures in the book before reading. Ask: What do you think this story is about? Have children read the heading and view the photograph on page 12. Ask and discuss: Is this part of the story?
